Team of relief personnel, construction workers and medical staff depart from Minneapolis April 11, 2014 for Port-au-Prince and other areas within Haiti

April 1, 2014 – Minneapolis, MN – Headwaters  Relief Organization will send a team of 19 volunteers to Haiti on April 11, 2014. Headwaters Relief will deliver food and supplies for several orphanages and schools,  conduct medical clinics and provide mental health support for the children.

Volunteer construction workers from Minnesota will also be building a new roof for the New Grace Church School in Simonette.  Headwaters Relief is currently raising funds for the cost of travel and expenses for the new school roof. 100% of funds raised through its Raise the Roof fundraiser will be used for materials and workers. Individuals and organizations can donate to the fundraiser via Razoo here

In the first year after the earthquake Headwaters Relief workers provided mental health support for children in orphanages and other areas. For the past three years, the organization’s work has included bringing school supplies and other materials to Haitian orphanages and schools.

“Many people are unaware that assistance is often needed for months, even years, after a disaster strikes,” said Dr. Rebecca Thomley, founder of Headwaters Relief Organization. “Many residents of Haiti, and particularly the children, still need our help to ensure a brighter future with relief from poverty and many other kinds of distress.”
