Headwaters Relief volunteers will depart for Katmandu, Nepal on Saturday, February 20 for their second relief mission following the major earthquakes that struck that country in April and May, 2015.

After arrival in Katmandu, the Headwaters team will travel to Melamchi in the Sindupalchok District where they will spend the majority of their time. This isolated valley was one of the hardest-hit areas in Nepal – virtually every home was destroyed and more than 1,400 people were killed in that region. The Headwaters team will work with children, build transitional housing, and work on clearing debris.

Headwaters will also present Nepal Quake, an illustrated children’s book created by Headwaters volunteers. Written in English and Nepali, the book explains what an earthquake is and how it can affect children, family, and community. The book, along with a teacher’s guide, will be distributed to thousands of children and teachers.

Please make a tax-deductible contribution to Headwaters and bring hope and build resilience for the children and families of Melamchi as they travel the road to recovery. Your support is vital in bringing supplies and materials:

  • $250 will bring the book Nepal Quake to 500 children
  • $150 will provide school supplies to 250 children
  • $100 will deliver health care supplies for 200 children
  • $50 will provide snacks for 150 children
