We are excited to announce that Headwaters won the award for Innovative Project of the Year at the National VOAD conference in Nashville, Tennessee.

The project that was selected was for the books we have developed for children following a disaster. To date, we have produced 6 books for the following responses: the earthquake in Haiti, the typhoon in the Philippines, the earthquakes in Nepal, the Ebola crisis in West Africa, the refugee crisis in Europe, and Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. These books were created in collaboration with youth, local artists, and residents of the communities we were creating materials for. The project came out of a number of requests we have received for practical resources to help children recover from a disaster. We have found the books be a great tool for all ages as they process the event they have experienced.  To learn more about each book click here. We are so grateful to have been selected for this award and we thank everyone who has helped make this project possible.
