Kelly Trolander, a volunteer for Headwaters, spoke at the Masconomet Middle School to discuss the relief work she has been involved that also including counseling children and first aid responders after a disaster.
Team Time
During their most recent Team Time experience, the 7th graders had the privilege of meeting and listening to a valued member of the Tri-Town community, Kelly Trolander. Kelly is the mother of current Team Seven White student Ben Trolander. Her primary job is counseling and helping local North Shore residents in need as a social worker, but Kelly also volunteers nationally as a disaster relief worker for the Headwaters Disaster Relief Organization. She began volunteering after Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans in 2005, and more recently she went to Houston after Hurricane Harvey and Florida after Hurricane Irma. Through Headwaters, Kelly has also volunteered internationally with multiple trips to both Haiti and Nepal. Her presentation for the seventh graders focused upon the various aspects of her relief work, including counseling children and first aid responders after a national disaster. Kelly also discussed the amazing cultures of the places she has worked, and she shared with the students her first-hand experiences of the inspiring people she has met.
